Cold Outbound

Cold outbound is the broader category of unsolicited prospecting across any channel, including cold email, cold calling, and LinkedIn outreach, aimed at starting a conversation with someone who has not previously engaged with the company. Cold email is the most common single channel within cold outbound, but not the only one.

Why it matters for outbound teams

Framing a program as cold outbound rather than just cold email reflects the reality that most modern outbound motions blend channels, using LinkedIn or phone touches to reinforce an email sequence. This is the term most often used to describe the overall discipline that SDR and BDR teams practice. Reply management increasingly has to account for replies arriving across more than one of these channels, not just email.
