Positive Reply Rate

Positive reply rate is the percentage of sent emails that generate a genuinely interested response, such as a request for more information or a meeting, calculated by dividing positive replies by total emails sent. It excludes neutral replies, out-of-office messages, unsubscribes, and outright rejections.

Why it matters for outbound teams

Total reply rate can be misleading because it lumps interested prospects in with people who are simply out of office or asking to be removed. Positive reply rate isolates the number that actually predicts pipeline, making it the metric most outbound teams optimize toward. Tracking it accurately requires reliable intent classification, since replies have to be separated from the noise before the rate means anything.
