Proof of Concept (POC)

A proof of concept, or POC, is a limited, time-boxed trial of a tool or process with a real but small dataset, used to confirm it works as expected before a full commitment or rollout. In outbound sales tooling, a POC often means testing a new sequencer or reply management platform on one sending domain or one team before expanding company-wide.

Why it matters for outbound teams

A POC lets a team validate claims like deliverability improvements or reply classification accuracy against their own data rather than taking a vendor's word for it, reducing the risk of a costly full rollout that does not perform as expected. For outbound tools specifically, a meaningful POC usually needs at least a few weeks of live sending to produce enough reply volume to judge accurately. Agencies and RevOps teams evaluating new platforms typically request a POC before signing a longer-term contract.
